ESSEX, KENNETH

Ken Essex studied at The Royal Academy of Music where he won the viola prize in his first term. He was for a number of years a member of the Hurwitz Quartet and later principal viola of the Goldsbrough, Boyd Neal, Royal Philharmonic and London Symphony orchestras. He has always enjoyed playing with string quintets as additional viola and has acted in this capacity with the Gabrieli, Haffner, Georgian, Aeolian and even on occasion the Amadeus quartets.
